Student Reflection At The End Of The Year
Support reinforcement of learning through artifact reflection in the final days of school.
*This end-of-the-year protocol builds learner confidence in preparation for the next school year.
Recognize: Give students time to peruse artifacts from the school year. Artifacts can be anything produced during the year: homework, test scores, photos, big projects, videos, websites, and more. As students review artifacts, have them choose 1-3 artifacts that recognize their best work.
Reflect: Encourage students to reflect on attributes that they appreciate the most. These may be tangible aspects exhibited within the artifact, such as the use of color, quotes, or graphs, or it may be intangible aspects connected to the artifact, such as memories related to empathy, collaboration, flexibility etc.
Reinforce: Ask students to express their reasons for choosing the selected artifacts, and give students an audience for sharing. By expressing their reasons for selection with a given audience, students can use their own learner's voice to reinforce the knowledge, skills, or talents that make them proud.
